Who am I?

Wesley Winterswijk

English Teacher / Writer

I never imagined I wanted to become a teacher. I wasn’t the easiest student in middle school, and I did not like school. So how did I end up becoming an English Teacher in middle and high schools?
After I had finished with school, I started working in the video and photography world. I had some interesting jobs; I flew to Los Angeles, I had a tour through the United Kingdom. Yet, the one job that made me think was teaching photography in middle schools, given as electives.

It was during these electives I gave that I started to enjoy the interaction with the students. Somehow, I started realizing that the world of education wasn’t such a bad world as I once thought.

So after a few years, and realizing that I could not keep up the high-pressure environment of my current career, I decided to go back to school. And that is where we are right now. I’m in my second year at the Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences and am on my journey to become the best teacher I can be.
